Nate and I have been talking about when to plan a Sylvan Island work day.  The Taming of the Slough Adventure Race is on August 23rd, and the island is part of that race for the mtn biking component.  Due to the flood, the island hasn't had much TLC.  Work needed:  Weed whipping, branch lopping, tree chain sawing, trash pick up, etc.  For those who can help with a work day, what fits your schedule?

Because it rains so frequently, we may want to factor in a cushion.  Looking at 2 weeks prior to the race, that puts us at Saturday 8-9-08 or Sunday 8-10-08 (which if rained out still gives us one weekend prior to the race to get the work done).  I know the weekend of the 8th does not work for the Schaars.  The weekend of the 16th does not work for Sylvan's trail steward, Nate.  Or, do you want to consider Sunday August 3rd (although I have concerns that if we move our work day up that far that weeds will have enough time to grow back requiring us to trim again).

I'm seeking input from those willing to help as far as when you have availability.  We won't get everyone, but hoping to find the most common date when people could help.  And, of course, we can go out on our own as schedules permit to weed trim, etc.  It doesn't have to be with a group.  Your thoughts?

My vote is Saturday 8-9-08 9:00 AM.

Rock on!

Becky,

Thanks for picking up the slack for me and organizing this.  That date and time is good for me (Sat., Aug. 9, 9 am).  I'll contact others by phone to get the word out.  The next meeting is the Monday before, so we can also remind everyone then.  Thanks,

Nate
