Default The FORCn Duro -- Save the Date!

Not a race, ride at your own pace, get to know your fellow FORCrs.

    Saturday August 15th

Is there a map of route in between parks? I wouldn't know a good way from Scp to sbp. The rest is all bike path...

As saturated as trails are, we need it to not rain between Tue & Saturday.

I'm an optimist but dang the forecast sucks. Any suggestions for a good Plan B this Sat?

We'll decide Thur evening the 18th if Duro ON or postponed till Sat August 15th.

Keep an eye on this thread and on Facebook Duro page

Unless the weather looks to be garbage all weekend, I'm still planning on having my camper at Illiniwek. It's been like a week since I've camped and it's beginning to affect my mental health.

We could do a test run and not ride the trails if they are too wet.

Great ideas for plan B! Thanks to Mandy G & Vonda. Can’t ride dirt, might as well ride something.

Plan A, B, or full postpone will be decided Thurs evening 18th. Keep eye on Forum & Facebook.

Plan A is full 70 mile Duro, 4 parks, 1 day.

    Plan B for Saturday:
Illiniwek camping, Mandy’s biking Scavenger Hunt, Bike Polo (a blast), Solstice party Sat evening.
FORC providing BBQ -- chix breast, brats, buns.

    Bring:
    Bike
6 pack each for beer potluck - don't be lame
Dish to share at Solstice party
Plates & picnic kit, bug spray, lawn chair, yada yada
$6 per tent; showers & flush toilets on-site

Some of us are camping @ Illiniwek both Fri & Sat night weather dependent; need to know your camping plans to plan accordingly.

Scavenger Hunt is selfie pic of you & bike in front of specified "things" of various point values. Swank prizes ala Mandy! Details & handout sheet 9AM Saturday at IFP campground at FORC trailer sites 39 & 40
    Illiniwek Campground Map

Scavenger Hunt deadline 4pm sharp Saturday or you DQ’d!
    Bike polo
    FORC BBQ 6pm.
Bonfire, draft next edition of FORC book, religious sermons.

That's how I feel about riding. This weather is hurting my sanity.

Forecast looking great, tho highly doubtful all 4 parks will be open Friday night and ready to ride Sat morning.

The 4-park Duro is postponed until Sat Aug 15th - it might be a 5 park Duro by then (no pressure Bill for Stephens Park).

PLAN B is in effect!! See you this Sat 20th 9AM at Illiniwek campground for full day of alternative 'riding' & FORCn foolishness.

I second this opinion... push it back a little - cooler weather and I may be back from business trip by then!

What's up you dirty forc'ers. Are you guys still doing this? If you are, this is my RSVP. I am down for any combo of parks 1-5 of them.

    Questions for you guys:
Are we riding with full gear during the day or are we leaving our camping gear set up at the campground?
Is there going to be an option for share a six pack or two?
Are we reserving the campsites or is there a group camp?
What are the new details homies?

    Mucho Love,

CONGRATS on your completion of the Tour Divide. Folks unaware, check out Tour Divide completed by Michael Kinney

Most definitely, the FORC'n Duro is on for Sat Aug 15th, 5 parks in one day.

I think most folks are leaving campgear/car at endpoint campground; we'll have a SAG wagon. I'm not packing campgear, haven't figured out how to stuff RV into pannier.

Lotsa folks are gonna camp Fri night, then Sat morning carpool to Dewitt & ride back to campsite. Safe overnight parking will be available Sat night in Dewitt.

Lunch stop is planned midday at The Grove Tap. And we'll have a Sat evening post-ride party at the campground.

    More details to come.

You'll have to share some Divide ride stories at the post-ride party.

I actually just signed up to be a FORC member yesterday, almost primarily for this ride coming up!

I plan to at least hit all 5 parks, not sure about riding between them. (Likely to get dropped off at Westbrook, ride Westbrook, ride to Scott, ride Scott, ride to Grove Tap, ride the 1 mile home. Drive to Sunder and ride the rest of the day. Hopefully get a ride back to Sunder at some point to get my car! So would be doing everything except the 17 mile pavement grind between Scott and Sunder.)

Will play it by ear I suppose!

Excellent! Thanks for joining, if you're interested the FORC monthly membership meeting is coming up Aug 3rd, 630pm at Bent River brewery RI. There'll be some Duro discussion.

Might I entice you to ride those 17 miles from Grove Tap to SBP? All whom complete the whole Duro get a prize at the post-ride party -- and its sooo worth it.

I reserved site 40 for both nights. Kids/wife may or may not camp with me. But I will be the only one participating in the ride. Membership dues to be paid, hopefully Monday :)
