The Great Weed Whack of 2018 on June 10th at 9:00am!

Time to knock back some weeds at Sylvan Island to get ready for this years thrill ride!

Come out this Sunday, June 10th at 9:00 am if you can lend a hand!

We will meet on the main land side at nine, if you cant make it there at that time no worries, just head over to the island and we will point you in the right direction!

You'll want:
long sleeve shirt
long pants
eye protection
bug spray

We also suggest:
change of clothes
dawn dish soap
gallon of water
clean towels and/or baby wipes
hankerchief for neck protection
Mosquito Head Net (sold at most big box stores in sporting goods)

The club has numerous string trimmers but not enough to go around so if you have one, bring it. Fuel and extra string are a necessity as well.
If you don't have a string trimmer, a machete or loppers prove useful.

We learned a long time ago it is never a good idea to use string trimmers at Sylvan. All that poison ivy juice flying is a major health hazard, tool of choice would be hand held manual weed whackers, much less juice produced with this type of tool but you will still need a rubbing alcohol bath as soon as you're done.

I'll be there with the hedge trimmer, folding saws, and some other clearing tools. Can also bring two string trimmers if there are brave enough souls to use them.

It was a successful trail day at Sylvan, we were able to get about 90% of the trails done! If you feel the uncontrollable urge to knock some weeds down here is what we have left... Woo Hoo, Nemesis, Brickyard and parts of Black Hill. Oh and yes we got the down tree removed and we found another one along the way! Thanks everyone for helping out and weathering through the rain, poison ivy and nats!
