    Default 2024 Trimming Status

It is that time of year again when the weeds start creeping in on our trails. We will be ramping up effort to get the trails trimmed in anticipation of the FORC Side Thrill Ride on June 2. This is always a major undertaking we could use the help of everyone. We will be posting some group work days but this can be done at any time. If you would like to claim a section to trim please post up or reach to here or on Facebook. We are planning to offer volunteers some type incentive similar to what was done last year but we have yet to secure a sponsor. The club has a number of trimmers, fuel and PPE that can be provided to anyone that would like to volunteer.

Trail Trimming Status as of 8/10/24
Black: Could use some work but not terrible
Red: Overgrown and needs some attention
    Green: Recently Cleared

Big thanks to those that have come out trim. We have knocked out a number of sections. Trail status above has been updated to reflect trails that are complete and those that still need attention. If you can make it out to trim a section please post up.

FORC will be hosting a trail work day to finish trimming the trails in preparation for the race this Sunday (and to keep the trails clear and enjoyable for everyone). We will be meeting in the parking lot at 4:30 and will head up to work around 4:45. The club will have a handful of trimmers and PPE on hand. We could use all of the help we can get. Please post up if you can make it so we can plan resources accordingly. If you can't make the event but want to lend a hand trimming can be done anytime. See the link below for up to date trimming status.

Thanks to everyone that has come out to trim. Blue mound is the only problem area remaining and I think I heard someone out there trimming as we left tonight. If it was you please post up.

With plenty of rain and warm temps the weeds are creeping back in. The map above has been updated with areas needing attention. If anyone wants to go out and clear some of these problems spots (or any others) we'd appreciate it. The club has trimmers that can be used, PM me if you need one. Will probably organize some trimming sessions in the next week or two (hopefully temps drop a bit).

We've been out taking care of some of the problem spots. Thanks Brad Patrick and Add who got NMK, Palos and Kickapoo Down. There are still some overgrown areas if anyone wants to go out. I have updated the trimming status at the top of this thread.

Joe got Blue Mound last night and I got Watermelon and Kettle this morning. Still a few sections that could use some work but most of the really bad areas are now clear.

Bryant was out and got Comlara East and a large portion of section 14 as well. There is a short sort section at the end of the jumpline that could use a bit of a trim but other than that trails are running good. Thanks to all of those that have been out to help.
